More local climate commitment - Together for a sustainable future for Marburg!

A day full of inspiration and drive: developing projects for a sustainable future. Creative ideas, exciting workshops and teamwork showed how everyone can contribute to climate protection - for a greener Marburg!

On November 24th, 2024, it was time again: the Climate Join-in Day in Marburg brought together committed citizens, organizations and interested parties to work together on innovative projects for climate protection. The event provided the ideal platform to promote creative ideas such as the sustainability score system for restaurants, educational programs for sustainable development or the greening of Marburg.

This day full of inspiration and drive showed how much potential there is in our community to initiate sustainable change together. Whether through the promotion of biodiversity, the development of a sustainable energy supply or integrative educational projects - the willingness to take action and make the city fit for the future is growing in Marburg.

Projects that move Marburg

The variety of projects initiated during the Climate Join-in Day is impressive. Each idea is a building block for a sustainable future and invites everyone to become part of this movement. Here is an overview of some of the inspiring projects:

🌱 GreenScore Marburg: Together for sustainable food!

How sustainable is the food on my plate? That's exactly what we want to make visible in Marburg restaurants! With a sustainability score in the menu, guests should be able to see at a glance how environmentally friendly a dish is - not only in terms of greenhouse gases, but also water consumption, land use and more.

We are looking for creative minds to help us develop a simple and meaningful score, get restaurants excited about the idea and find funding opportunities. Interested in being part of this project? Let's make Marburg's gastronomy more sustainable together!

🌍 Development of ESD offers for (open) child and youth work in Marburg.

We develop exciting materials and formats relating to education for sustainable development (ESD) to introduce children and young people to sustainable action in a creative way. Based at the youth education center in the Haus der Jugend, we would like to complement Marburg's ESD offerings and create synergies together with you.

Do you have any ideas or would you like to get involved? Let's develop inspiring educational programs for the next generation together!

🍴 SprachKüche Marburg: learning, cooking, sustainability!

An innovative language cooking course for refugees in Marburg combines language acquisition with knowledge about sustainable nutrition. Participants learn everyday terms related to shopping and cooking, while the focus is on topics such as regionality, plant-based nutrition and environmental aspects.

The course offers practical language training through market visits, cooking together and interactive methods. At the same time, it creates a space for exchange, integration and awareness of healthy, environmentally friendly nutrition.

An idea that combines education, integration and sustainability in a tasty way - a project with a future!

🌱 💚Marburg goes green!

Together for more greenery and biodiversity! An alliance of citizens, initiatives, businesses and the city is relying on plant power to counteract climate change, species loss and rising temperatures. More trees, flowering meadows and greening projects are the key to climate protection, adaptation and biodiversity.

Whether flowering meadows instead of lawns, living gardens instead of gravel gardens or edible plants in tubs - every action counts! Supported by the city, universities and nature conservation initiatives, everyone can get involved: private individuals, companies and neighborhood groups. Competitions and creative ideas make the project even more exciting.

🌱 Climate action in Marburg 2025: Working together for a better future!

With creative and constructive ideas, the willingness to deal with climate issues, adopt sustainable changes in everyday life and participate in actions - or even plan them yourself - is growing in Marburg!

It's all about facing the challenges of our time with confidence and showing that we can make a difference: Every contribution counts. Whether it's climate change, social issues or other global crises - together we can make a big difference. Because as the saying goes: if lots of little people in lots of little places around the world do lots of little things, they can change the face of the world.

Let's go Marburg, together for a climate-friendly tomorrow!

Civic organizations - Shaping the energy transition together!

A sustainable energy supply designed by citizens for citizens - that is the vision of Bürgerwerke! In a planned online information event, exciting possibilities will be shown on how everyone can become part of citizen power plants and what community power supply means for the future.

That's what it's all about:

- Raising energy awareness: How everyone can contribute to the energy transition in their everyday lives.

- Reducing fears: Especially for tradespeople - the energy transition is not a risk, but an opportunity.

- Promote exchange: Create platforms where experiences and ideas can be shared.

- Participation made easy: Get to know ways to actively participate in citizen power plants.

- Save CO₂: Why moving away from fossil fuels will secure our future.

Achieving more together: The citizen power plants show how energy supply can not only be made more climate-friendly, but also more democratic. Join in and become part of a movement that is taking our energy future into its own hands!
