More climate protection commitment in Würzburg - get involved too!

Get active and support innovative projects - over 70 people celebrated the first Climate Join-in Day in Würzburg with us! Because everyone is needed! Find out what you can do to make your region more climate-friendly here.

From community energy to climate tent camps, many cool initiatives were launched at the 1st Würzburg Climate Join-in-Day.

Climate protection is an issue close to the hearts of many people in Würzburg. That's why, in July, hundreds of people signed up for the establishment of a ClimateHub as a focal point for climate action in Würzburg within just a few days. At the beginning of November 2024, the time had finally come: we officially opened the ClimateHub on the 1st Climate Join-in Day and over 70 people came together to implement their climate ideas. Because: only if we join forces can we advance the climate transition from below.

Climate Mayor Martin Heilig made the following appeal to the population: “We need a citizenry that gets involved and doesn't just complain, but shapes things. I firmly believe that politicians must, of course, make decisions, but for the change we need, we have to work together. Now more than ever!” But wait a minute, Climate Join-in-Day? Sounds like a boring information event to you? You thought wrong! The Climate Join-in-Day enables all participants to share their own ideas and suggestions and thus develop direct solutions, both together and on their own. For example, one project group would like to enable people to cook together using regional ingredients and raise awareness about the origin of our meals. Would you like to cook more vegetarian meals and avoid food waste? Then get involved right away!

Stefan Schindler, CEO of Sparda-Bank Nürnberg, which supports the ClimateHub financially, summarized the day as follows: “The passion and creativity of the people of Würzburg are inspiring, and it is encouraging to see how many are willing to take an active stand for climate protection. With the ClimateHub Würzburg, we have created a space in which we can work together on sustainable solutions.”
