A day full of energy and ideas - On October 18, 2024, the time had finally come: the first EnergyTransitionDay in Emmendingen brought together committed citizens, local initiatives and energy experts to talk about sustainable solutions and the future of the energy transition. It wasn't just an event - it was the launch of the EnergieWendeHub Emmendingen! As a thematically focused ClimateHub for the energy transition, the EnergieWendeHub brings people together to drive the energy transition forward locally. It creates a network for the local energy transition that connects people, promotes projects and shows that climate protection works above all together. Thomas Gerber, a participant in the EnergyTransitionDay, sums it up aptly: “Lots of people who are interested in the same thing. It's great to exchange ideas with like-minded people, it's great that you can motivate people to meet in this way in a short space of time.” And that's exactly what it was all about: networking, exchanging ideas and launching new projects. From local heating networks and balcony power plants to a knowledge platform for solar energy - there was not only discussion, but also direct action!
The energy transition won't happen on its own - it needs you! Exciting projects are currently being developed in Emmendingen that make a very practical contribution to the heating transition, solar energy and better networking. These projects are the starting signal for a local, citizen-oriented energy transition. Whether you have technical know-how, organizational talent or simply a desire for change - there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved! Here you can get active and create real change together with others!
💡 Market of the energy transition
A festival to bring sustainable energy to life for everyone! At the stands of local authorities, companies and energy transition stakeholders, there will be valuable insights and opportunities to exchange ideas. Children can also playfully discover how the sun and wind generate energy.

🔥 Setting up micro local heating networks
Several houses join forces and supply each other with renewable heat via small, efficient heating networks. To make the idea a reality, we need people who want to get involved - whether in planning, organizing or as future users.

☀️ Building balcony solar systems together
Old solar panels get a second life - and you can help! Goal: build 200 balcony power plants from recycled modules. At the big balcony PV construction day, we'll work together so that as many people as possible can generate green electricity directly at home. Anyone interested in technology, DIY enthusiasts and anyone who wants to use solar power themselves are very welcome!

📚 Knowledge database for agricultural & ground-mounted PV
How do photovoltaic systems work on fields or open spaces? What laws and subsidies are there? We are building a comprehensive knowledge database for anyone who wants to start such projects. Do you have specialist knowledge or would you like to collect information and prepare it in an understandable way? Then join in!

🔋 Strengthen BEG networking
There are seven citizens' energy cooperatives (BEGs) in the district of Emmendingen - but still too little exchange. Are you active in a BEG or want to find out more about community energy projects? Then come along and get involved!
To the idea: Strengthen BEG networking
The EnergyTransitionDay is not just an event - it is a day of participation! Instead of just listening, all participants were able to become active, contribute ideas and work directly on new projects. It offers a platform for networking, learning new things and getting active. Whether through joint activities, exchanging ideas with others or simply by contributing your own ideas - anyone can take part, without any prior knowledge! The energy transition in particular thrives on community and local commitment. And the best thing? Children and young people were also able to get to grips with the topic interactively - because the future starts now! Want to be part of it? Then join a project or start your own! Together we can create a sustainable future - join us next time!
We believe that the possibility to connect and get active in the climate movement should be free and include everyone. Do you feel the same? Support us with a donation to connect even more Climate actors and make new Climate Projects possible worldwide!
